Owen Kuyper
Swimmer, coach and headmaster at Crawford College, where he established the Owen Kuyper Inter-Crawford Cricket Festival.
Owen is a Crawford and South African swimming legend. Owen was the Principal of 5 different Crawford schools and hugely successful wherever he was. He was the Principal of Crawford Pretoria, Crawford North Coast, Crawford La Lucia, Crawford Bedfordview and Crawford Lonehill.Owen was an excellent swimmer, coach and commentator. He was a provincial swimmer at both primary school and high school, was selected for the South African Schools’ Swimming Team as well as the South African University Swimming Team. He swam regularly at Senior Nationals and was one of our country’s stand out swimmers in the 100m and 200m backstroke events.As a swimming coach he was superb at school, club and provincial level. He coached the Pretoria University Swimming Team, the South African University Swimming Team and was also the National Swimming Coach.
