Ineke "Nicky" de Groot

Nicky de Groot died in a car crash near Uitenhage in the early 1980's, when the vehicle struck an animal. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about the accident at this time.

Nicky was an Eastern Province swimmer from Uitenhage, where she matriculated at Riebeek College for Girls. She trained with coach Tom Connell at Grey High School in Port Elizabeth and was a member of the Uitenhage  Amateur Swimming Club.

At the 1974 South African Primary Schools swimming championships held in Bloemfontein, Nicky won the girls under-14 100m freestyle and butterfly events.
